10/23-26/2002- Moscow Theater Sieges
3/11/2004- Madrid Train Bombings
7/22/2011- Norway Camp Killings
And hundreds of others...
Today is the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America. Last year, I watched the 10th anniversary memorials while in China. I remember having a discussion about it- Why does it still affect us so much, 10 years later?
I hope it never stops affecting us. Just like I hope people never stop being affected by the attacks on other people in other cities in the world. You see, it isn't just about one country, one race, one religion. It is about the fact that there are people in the world who take pleasure from other people's pain and terror. This should be something that we never stop thinking about.
Today I want to recognize and remember all people who perished in acts of terrorism everywhere in the world. And I want to say thank you to our protectors- not just for the US troops who put their lives on the line, but to everyone, everywhere, who refuse to bow down to the tyranny of those who have lost sight of what humanity means. We all, everyday, should be doing anything we can to improve the quality of our lives. I don't mean money, gadgets, jobs.. I mean friendship, character, and love. What have you done to improve the world today?
One World. One Love.
