Lately, I have been having some issues with the tree, more specifically, white mold growing on the soil. I scrap it off, it grows back. Ew.
Now, my first thoughts were similar to most people's, I'm sure.. "Mold=bad. You are getting poisoned by something you so lovingly cared for, now you need to through it away before you get sick, blah blah blah".
Well, thanks to my dear, dear Google, I have learned I do not (most likely) need to get rid of wonderful foliage. Apparently, white mold is common, and not dangerous for the plant or people (in small amounts. If you have an entire greenroom caked in the stuff, you may want to re-Google).
So how do you get rid of it? Well, constant replanting is one way to do it, but I do not have the time or patience to do that every week. So the easy DIY fix?
Cinnamon!
That's right, sprinkle on the soil, and voila!
It's been a week since I added the cinnamon, and so far, so good. I guess I need to wait a bit longer to see the real effects of it. Worse comes to worse, it saved me a week of white fuzz, and gave the bedroom a slightly Christmas-y smell!
So, cinnamon is not only limited to the kitchen, huh? This is an awesome tip, thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome! The cinnamon has been effective for stopping the mold for almost 3 weeks now!
